Trashiyangtse lies at the elevation of 1830 m and borders the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. A cross border trade also takes place here. The Wildlife Sanctuary at Bomdeling is situated in this district where Black Necked Crane roosts in winter. Tigers, Red Pandas and Leopards are also found here. In the second month of lunar calendar, an interesting celebration known as “kora” takes place in the place called Chorten Kora in Trashiyangtse, where people from neighboring Arunachal Pradesh and the devotees from Merak and Sakten come to witness the festival.
